HOST: Peter Jackman – Rammed Earth Building – RammedEarth.House
Learn the skills and techniques to build your own beautiful Rammed Earth structures.
Rammed Earth walls are thick and they’re solid. The sedimentary layer effect and the tactile surface create a natural earthiness that’s:
- Healthy – non-toxic – natural earth walls breathe
- Energy Efficient – cool in summer and warm in winter
- Sustainable – locally sourced earth
- Durable and Maintenance Free – lived in for 100’s of years
- Aesthetically Diverse – traditional or modern.
This workshop is designed to give you plenty of time on the tools. Over the 2 days, we’ll cover all the essentials:
Soil types and structure
Working with California forms
Working with pneumatic rammers
Proper ramming technique
